The Willow Fire ignited west of Leadville, Colorado, in the rugged terrain of the San Isabel National Forest near Turquoise Lake. Fueled by dry vegetation, steep mountain terrain, gusty winds, and dry weather conditions, the wildfire spread rapidly, prompting mandatory evacuations, pre-evacuation notices, road closures, and a large multi-agency firefighting response.

Fire crews from multiple agencies worked tirelessly to slow the fire's progression, protect homes, critical infrastructure, and recreational areas, while minimizing impacts to the Leadville community and the surrounding public lands. Aircraft, hand crews, engines, bulldozers, and heavy equipment were utilized to combat the blaze in the steep, difficult-to-access terrain.

In response to the wildfire, DeWeather Cares is heading to the Leadville area to provide much-needed relief supplies to firefighters, first responders, and residents affected by the Willow Fire, supporting the community during this challenging incident.
